ABOUT JOE
I'm Joe Walters, a soon-to-be graduate of Mid Michigan Community College's Graphic Arts Program. In December 2018 I will be completing my Associate in Graphic Design. Over the years I have been heavily involved in music, theatre, community events, and entertainment. I've entertained small groups of 20 to 40 people, large gyms full of high school students at pep assembles, and entire counties. I've done this all before and during my time at WCFX.
I started performing during grade school; staring in school talent shows, playing in different bands as a guitarist, drummer, and bassist. In high-school I continued my performance of the arts by participating in jazz, concert, and marching band. At a young age, I started to gain a liking to radio. A common place where people, artists, community members, and pretty much everyone gathered. People listen to radio to listen to music, talk, solve problems, learn of current events, or just escape reality! I found this amusing because since I was a child, I've loved to make people laugh, awe them, or just help them through a rough day.
As a sophomore in High School, I worked as a call-in reporter for WCZY in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. While doing this, I'd travel with my high school football team to games, and provide score updates while the radio station broadcasted a different game. During my time with WCZY, I also conducted, recorded, and produced interviews with MHSAA athletes.
During my Junior year, I started interning for WCFX's morning show, The CFX Breakfast Flakes. After one month, I was hired as a part time board op, and producer. Currently at WCFX, I'm a producer, on-air personality, and graphic artist of three years. Through those years, I've had on-air shifts all times of the day. Mid-days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and have also hosted the morning show.
Radio is my passion and is what I live for. Putting a smile on a person's face by making them laugh, playing their favorite song, or helping them through a tough time. Entertaining is what I choose and will do during my time on this earth. I want to be the best broadcaster I can be and will become just that through mentoring, learning, and executing. If you are to bring me into your organization I will do everything in my power to make your radio station number one in the market.
